"I met a band from Austria at americanafest a few years back. Something refreshing and more up my alley than anything I usually run across here in Nashville. That was a few years ago and I’ve been wanting to co- release a collaborative track with them ever since.
Son of the Velvet has since moved to Joshua Tree California and that is where the recorded this track. I sent them this song Faith I’d had hanging around for too long. They added to it, a chorus no less, and a beautiful new version emerged. The release will drop to the public June 30th." Lance Whalen
Faith
Faith, fallen over time
in truth, if it wasn’t such a crime
I'd still be yours
the silent treatment
as I’m coming down to meet ya
Faith, what a narrow strip of ground
I made myself up like a clown
That you might smile
The glaring and the huffing
As you turn me down to nothing
On a lathe of your design
As you’re turning on the gas light
I’m bracing for the real fight
Fly - I’ve been waiting for the sundown
Fly - I ain’t never gonna come down
Faith, it does the best it can
You, presume to know what makes a man
The slamming of the door
I can’t take much more of
Your special brand of love
You’ve been counting on my weakness
But I’ve been talking to the Phoenix
